Description

The project is a rapidly growing engineering firm focused on improving the integrity of gas distribution and gas transmission pipeline systems through the application of advanced risk modeling technologies. An entrepreneurial company, we provide an exciting, dynamic and respectful work environment. Our Mission is “Better Pipelines for a Better World”. We are looking for an ambitious individual to join our software product development team. As an Intermediate Software Developer, you will build the next generation of Risk Management and GIS driven applications to help revolutionize the industry. Working with a talented team, you will contribute to our product development lifecycle to build out new features and continually improve our process. We combine the energy of a Startup with the discipline of a precision engineering firm.

Requirements

  • Proven GCP Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience specifically administrating Google Cloud Platform environments.
  • Cloud Governance Expertise: Strong understanding of GCP’s resource hierarchy (Organizations, Folders, Projects) and IAM hierarchy.
  • Security-First Mindset: Experience in maintaining secure cloud environments through firewalls, private access configurations, and regular security audits.
  • Networking Fundamentals: Solid grasp of VPCs, subnets, load balancing, and DNS within a cloud context.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze billing reports and technical logs to provide recommendations for efficiency and security.
  • Relevant Certification (Preferred): Google Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect certification is a strong asset.
  • Communication: Ability to clearly explain cloud resource requirements and security constraints to non-technical stakeholders.

Job responsibilities

  • Identity & Access Management (IAM): Provision and manage user accounts, service accounts, and resource permissions using the principle of least privilege.
  • Resource Management: Monitor and organize GCP projects, folders, and resources to ensure optimal performance and alignment with business units.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain cloud security best practices (e.g., configuring VPC Service Controls, managing Cloud Armor, and ensuring data encryption) to keep the environment secure.
  • Cost Optimization: Monitor cloud spend, manage budgets and alerts, and identify underutilized resources to ensure cost-efficient scaling.
  • Governance & Policy: Establish and enforce organizational policies using GCP Organization Policy Service to ensure consistent configurations across all projects.
  • Monitoring & Health: Utilize Google Cloud Operations Suite (formerly Stackdriver) to monitor system health, set up uptime checks, and manage logging for audit purposes.
  • Collaboration: Serve as the primary point of contact for infrastructure requests, similar to the existing Azure Administrator role, ensuring a unified approach to multi-cloud administration.
