Description

Broadband team works on 2nd generations of Harmonic (NASDAQ:HLIT) Cable Access products: actively developing the industry’s first software-based CCAP solution (“Cable OS”) and cloud native CMTS.

These solutions allow cable operator companies to deliver IP-based data, video, and voice services to millions of customers. Focus is given to CableOS, which will allow to get rid of the existing HW equipment and migrate to the cloud, saving customers the enormous expenses for the support of HW network equipment.

The system is based on microservice architecture and is running on general-purpose CPUs. It doesn’t require using ASICs and makes it possible to run the SW both on the bare metal servers as well as on the private cloud infrastructure. CableOS is a pioneer in DOCSIS software-defined networking (SDN), with all the benefits it gives to the service providers.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior C++ Software Engineer to join our core development team responsible for building high-performance network services and system-level daemons running on modern Linux-based platforms. You will play a key role in the design, development, and ownership of critical components that manage configuration, monitoring, communication protocols, and integration with control and telemetry systems.
This position requires strong C++ expertise, a good understanding of distributed systems, and the ability to collaborate with remote teams in a large-scale, production-grade software environment.

Experience & Skills

• 5+ years of professional experience in C++ development (C++14 or newer preferred);
• Deep understanding of multithreaded programming and concurrency models;
• Strong grasp of system-level programming and interprocess communication (IPC);
• Experience working in Linux or Unix-like environments (development, debugging, build tools);
• Solid Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) design and understanding of software design principles;
• Familiarity with distributed systems and daemon-based architecture;
• Proactive debugging and root cause analysis skills (e.g. memory leaks, crashes, core dumps);
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote team.

Job responsibilities

• Design and implement modular, reliable, and efficient software components running in Linux userspace;
• Build system-level services responsible for network configuration, monitoring, authentication, and control plane functionality;
• Ensure high performance and low memory footprint under demanding runtime conditions;
• Participate in design discussions and architecture reviews;
• Drive code quality through code reviews, unit testing, and documentation;
• Collaborate closely with remote engineering teams and QA.
