Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) – Pipeline Engineer to join our Kernel Team, responsible for the low-level operating system components and custom Linux kernel builds powering a large-scale infrastructure environment.

The project focuses on introducing a new generation of ARM-based servers into the existing platform. The team is responsible for building robust and reproducible pipelines, verifying QEMU/KVM functionality and qualifying Debian-based system builds, and validating their operation on physical hardware.

As part of the team, you will work at the intersection of QA, Linux engineering, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation. You will build and maintain pipelines, automate system validation, deploy builds to bare-metal environments, and ensure that critical OS services and monitoring components operate reliably before the platform reaches production.

This role is particularly suited to an engineer who enjoys working close to the operating system and hardware, rather than focusing solely on application-level test automation.

Requirements

Must have:

  • Strong experience in software testing and infrastructure/platform automation, particularly in Linux-based environments
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Debian internals, including OS packages, system services, and system-level troubleshooting
  • Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining reproducible build and CI/CD pipelines
  • Proficiency in Bash and Python for automation, scripting, and test tooling
  • Experience deploying and validating software on bare-metal Linux environments
  • Understanding of systemd units, system services, and their validation
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, including the ability to investigate build failures and OS-level issues
  • Very good English language skills, at least B2 level (both written and spoken)

Nice-to-have (winning skills):

  • Experience with ARM-based environments
  • Familiarity with ARM cross-compilation
  • Understanding of Linux kernel build and packaging processes
  • Experience with performance and stability testing of Linux-based systems

Job responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain reproducible build pipelines for ARM Linux kernel and Debian system packages
  • Adapt existing build and qualification processes to support the introduction of a new ARM-based hardware platform
  • Validate the integration of essential OS components, including systemd units, system services, and monitoring components
  • Develop and maintain Bash- and Python-based automation supporting build, deployment, and validation activities
  • Deploy builds to bare-metal lab machines and execute extensive qualification tests to prove hardware stability and QEMU/KVM functionality..
  • Verify that monitoring and performance-related metrics operate correctly on the new hardware platform
  • Troubleshoot build and deployment failures and investigate Linux OS-level issues
  • Collaborate closely with kernel and platform engineers to identify and resolve issues discovered during ARM platform rollout
  • Contribute to ensuring stable, reproducible, and production-ready Linux builds for the new hardware environment
