Our client is a global leader in music rights management, serving as an advocate for the value of music. It collects blanket license fees from businesses that use music, entitling those businesses to play or sync any songs from the client’s repertoire of over 22.4 million musical works. On a regular basis, the client distributes the money to songwriters, composers, and music publishers as royalties to those members whose works have been performed.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent industry experience.
Experience & Technical Focus
- Core Full Stack Expertise: Strong hands-on experience developing end-to-end web applications utilizing modern multi-tier design patterns and frameworks (e.g., MVC, Entity Framework).
C# & Backend Development:
- 5 years of Object-Oriented development experience.
- 5 years of C# project implementation experience (additional experience is strongly preferred).
- Strong hands-on expertise in developing C# server-side, multi-threaded services and deep knowledge of the .NET framework utilizing Visual Studio.
UI & Frontend Development:
- Strong professional experience with React (core requirement for this role).
- Preferred experience with MUI (Material UI) or similar UI component frameworks.
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript.
Database Experience:
- Strong relational database experience with a focus on PostgreSQL (MS SQL experience is also highly valued).
Repositories, Protocols & Platforms:
- Proven experience with Git repositories (knowledge of industry-standard source control systems; Team Foundation Server/VSTS/Azure DevOps is a plus).
- Deep understanding of industry-standard communication protocols including REST, JSON, XML.
- Experience working with AWS cloud environments is preferred.
- Strong experience working within Agile software development methodologies.

- Best Practices: Must have an excellent understanding and hands-on experience with design and development best practices, detail orientation, and strong attention to detail.
- Enterprise Mindset: Experience with distributed systems or a large enterprise background is preferred.
- Testing & Automation: Understanding of SDLC automation concepts such as continuous integration (CI/CD) and the ability to implement strong unit and service-level tests.
Job responsibilities
- Application Lifecycle Management: Participate in all phases of managing the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) for the Soundmouse platform: requirements analysis, full-stack development, testing, and implementation.
- Technical Design & Logic: Participate actively in technical logic and design discussions, ensuring frontend UI components seamlessly integrate with backend services.
- Architecture Alignment: Identify the appropriate software architecture for full-stack features based on product requirements and BMI enterprise architecture guidelines.
- Database Management: Design, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas, queries, and stored procedures to support high-performing application features.
- UI/UX Integration: Work closely with UX/UI designers to translate wireframes and visual designs into responsive, consistent, and intuitive React-based user experiences.
- Review Process: Lead the review process for software architecture documents and contribute to the review and analysis of business requirements.
- Documentation: Create, maintain, and present clear technical documentation (including project plans, software program guides, and user documentation) to different audiences and technical levels.
- Assessments & Logistics: Perform resource, technical, and risk assessments for upcoming Soundmouse application features.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with other development, architecture, and product development teams across the broader BMI organization to ensure unified product delivery.
- Vendor Management: Work with 3rd party vendors on technical design/specifications, development, testing, and deployment to ensure external deliverables meet Soundmouse standards.
- Project Delivery: Assist in the timely completion of assigned development projects and contribute to the estimation of personnel requirements, cost, and time.
- Corporate Citizenship: Support BMI Core Values, cultivate a culture of diversity and inclusion, and maintain regular attendance.
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and architectural discussions within an Agile framework.
- Other duties as assigned.
