Description
We are looking for a Reliability Engineer (Open to All Experience Levels) with strong hands-on experience in Linux, automation scripting, SQL, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and log analysis to troubleshoot complex production issues and customer outages.
This role focuses on deep technical troubleshooting, understanding code logic, and permanent problem resolution.
This product is a mature/legacy platform with limited observability, the ideal candidate must possess strong troubleshooting fundamentals.
You should be comfortable reading/understanding application code and writing automation scripts in any scripting language to build preventative fixes that stop issues from happening again.
Requirements
Mandatory RequirementsExperience Level:
Open to all experience levels (Junior, Mid, Senior). We welcome candidate potential and strong fundamentals.
Linux Proficiency: Strong hands-on Linux/Unix OS troubleshooting, command-line usage, and system performance analysis.
Automation & Scripting: Demonstrated ability to write scripts (e.g., Bash, Shell, Python, AWK, or similar) to automate tasks, build safeguards, and prevent incident recurrence.
Code Comprehension: Ability to read, understand, and trace application code to identify bugs and logic flaws.
Database & SQL: Solid understanding of SQL/database troubleshooting and query performance analysis.
Log & RCA Focus: Strong analytical, debugging, log correlation, and Root Cause Analysis skills.
Optional / Good to HaveJava & JVM Development/Debugging:
Understanding of Java code, JVM memory management, GC, thread/heap dump analysis.
Progress OpenEdge Ecosystem: Progress OpenEdge / Progress 4GL / ABL, OE11/OE12, PAS, promon, VSTs, 4GLTrace.
Diagnostic Tools: Eclipse Memory Analyzer (MAT), GC log analysis tools.
Cloud Environments: Experience troubleshooting in cloud-based production environments.
Job responsibilities
Troubleshooting & Incident Response: Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex production stability, performance, and customer-facing outages.
Preventative Automation: Read and understand existing application code logic, then write automation scripts (in any language) to prevent recurring issues and automate permanent fixes.
Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Perform deep-dive RCAs and post-incident reviews for major incidents. System & Log Diagnostics: Analyze and correlate application, Linux/OS metrics, and database logs to pinpoint root causes.
Performance Analysis: Diagnose Linux/OS performance bottlenecks using standard tools (e.g., top, vmstat, sar, iostat, iotop) alongside SQL/database performance analysis.
Collaboration: Work alongside development, operations, and product teams on code-level fixes, configuration improvements, and complex customer escalations.
