Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a structured framework used by software development teams to navigate teams through the entire process of developing software in a systematic and cost-effective way. The step-by-step approach takes the process from initial ideation concept through final software delivery.

How does Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)?

While organizations use different versions of the software development life cycle (SDLC), a six-phase framework is the most common. Those steps are planning, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintaining or monitoring. These clearly defined phases and deliverables help development team to stay on track and meet deadlines and expectations. There also are various SDLC models, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. These include: Agile, Waterfall, Iterative, V-Model, Spiral, and DevOps.
