What is User Research?
User Research is the method organizations use to answer a variety of critical questions about the user experience to create user-oriented and user-friendly products. User research is part of every phase of product development, including discovery, development, and launch.
How does User Research work?
A typical research process starts with identifying objectives like the problems that need to be addressed and the goals that need to be specified. Hypotheses about users and their behaviors should be identified. Proper research methods should be set. Research should then be conducted through qualitative and quantitative methods and accurate records kept. Once the research has been collected, it should be analyzed to guide user design. User research involves quantitative, or numerical measuring, and qualitative, using user interviews, testing, customer calls, surveys, and field studies.
What are the business benefits of User Research?

- Reduces costs by creating designs users want and will use, without creating redundant and expensive functions that go unused
- Mitigates the risk of failure by using sound research methods to develop products that are relevant and will resonate with target audiences
- Provides a better understanding of ROI by tracking increase in sales and users during and after deployment
- Builds brand loyalty as users buy products that solve problems and then recommend those products to friends and colleagues
